Taking the 360° view
Malmberg is adept a thinking globally about brands and campaigns and thrives at extrapolating them from their main overarching concept all the way down to articulating how each piece of the whole functions within their specific channel, with a natural savvy for how those channels best speak and move. Each asset communicates with the cadence and accent that feels most at home in each channel. That’s the benefit of the 360° view.
A richly-experienced art and creative director, Jason has led multiple design teams the best way he knows how: by knowing how each discipline and application functions down to the pixel and guiding his team as a constructive critic, mentor, and cheerleader. And that mentoring comes from a deeep well of real on-the-ground and on-the-page experience. Malmberg feels that the best creative direction comes from intimate familiarity with the tools and processes deployed in telling the story. To give an example, a director who understands lenses, blocking, and editing simply communicates their vision to the crew that much better.
Restlessly Creative
Boundlessly creative to the core, in his spare time Jason designs gigposters for some of the world’s biggest music festivals and bands like Foo Fighters, Metallica, and even “Weird” Al Yankovic. In fact that boundless creativity is the reason he maintains two portfolio sites: the one you’re currently on and a completely separate site for his music industry work. He’s also had some success as an illustrator, a skillset he’s been happy to put to use for several award-winning brands and campaigns.
Odds are you’ve seen his work out there somewhere already. He considers himself fortunate to have created work that has sold on six of seven continents (he holds out hope that McMurdo Station has some music fans looking for wall decor so he can snag that seventh.)
He’s been so prolific that you may even already have some of his work on your wall. Come work with Jason and enjoy the personality behind the creativity as well.
Note: as this site is currently being finished, please contact Jason via email.
